It's hard to describe what makes a long-running manga good, because you keep forgetting what happened during most of its run.

So I picked up Chainsaw Man a few chapters into Part 2; so I did most of my reading then. Part 1 was already a wild ride by itself. It had cool action, excellent characters, and shockingly fast pacing. For as fast as it was, it also made sure that every twist-and-turn it had prepared hit like a truck. It was a Shonen that wasn't afraid to get super Seinen about shit. Part 2 turned in a different direction with a different MC and a different vibe. It added Josei traits with a romantic subplot and more drama than part 1; but it was still Chainsaw Man all the same. It featured ultra-violent battles, crass humor, and was still capable of tearing your heart out with horrible tragedies. All the while, still featuring small and quiet moments that remind you why you care about these characters. And after reading the final chapter, I can safely say that it ended in a satisfying way.

Trying not to spoil anything, but during the run of this series, you can see what Denji needs to live a happy life. However, if you were to ask Denji himself what he wants to be happy, he'll say something and broad and shallow as "I want to have sex with a hot girl", which is not-at-all going to make him happy. YOU understand what he needs, but he doesn't. But reading the final chapter, you know he's getting what he needs and deserves, and you feel good for him.

I know this isn't a manga for everybody, but I had a wonderful time reading through this.

9/10.
